Single-player open-world undersea exploration game

Dave the Diver is a two-dimensional undersea exploration and resource-farming role-playing game that immerses users in a realm simply known as the “Blue Hole.” Various areas will need to be investigated with the help of three additional non-playable characters (NPCs). This is a single-player adventure game. An oxygen bar provides an exciting air of tension and players can expect smooth and well-designed graphics.

Although Dave the Diver can be loosely grouped with other games that offer an ocean-inspired environment, such as Zoo Tycoon: Marine Marina, this one is narrative-driven and there are plenty of secrets to unlock. The NPCs are also humorous and quirky.

Dave the Diver is perfectly suitable for casual players as well as anyone who wishes to learn about unique marine ecosystems. Users will be introduced to various species of flora and fauna as they descend deeper into the depths. However, some character movements may experience latency on occasion. On the other hand, one interesting element within this game involves the plot.

While the protagonist is an explorer by day, many of the ingredients that he collects can be used to create sushi dishes at a restaurant that he owns. Meanwhile, the resource farming feature of the game is also an important aspect, as skills and tools must be used to engage in unexpected encounters with dangerous aquatic creatures as well as to collect sushi ingredients. 

Other tasks, such as monitoring how much air remains within an oxygen tank and avoiding sharks, provide an entirely varied experience. Concurrently, the game’s narrative shines with its band of eccentric characters, providing a light-hearted touch to the adventure. The story is rich with humor, and packed with in-jokes that make every interaction a delight. However, the rather repetitive nature of the gameplay and no online co-op mode may bore players over time.
